Frequently Asked Questions

Which booking platform powers these tours, and who handles the guest experience?

Tours are powered by Viator, but the actual guest experience is handled by the individual tour operators.

Viator manages the booking, and the operator delivers the tour.

Can I choose which tours or experiences appear in my guidebook, or are they auto-selected?

Tours are automatically selected and sorted by Viator, based on your property’s location.

Custom selection isn’t available just yet, but it’s something we’re keeping in mind for future updates.

How and when do I receive my 8% commission?

To receive your 8% commission from tour bookings:

  • You’ll need to add your personal Viator API key in Welcora

  • Payouts are handled directly by Viator on their regular schedule

    • PayPal: Monthly payouts with no minimum

    • Bank deposit: Monthly payouts with a $50 minimum

Once it’s set up, earnings flow automatically.

Can I add my own preferred local partners or businesses to the guidebook alongside the automated ones?

Yes, you can absolutely add your own preferred local partners or businesses to the guidebook.

They’ll appear separately from the Viator-powered listings, so guests can see both your hand-picked favorites and the automated options.

Will my guests know that I earn a commission when they book a tour?

Nope, your guests won’t see anything about commissions unless you choose to tell them.

The booking experience looks just like a regular tour recommendation.

Is the commission taxable, and will I receive tax documentation (like a 1099 or summary)?

Yes, the commission is taxable income.

If you meet certain thresholds (like earning over $600/year in the U.S.), Viator will issue a 1099 or equivalent tax documentation directly to you.

Can I see performance metrics, like how many guests viewed or booked tours?

Yes, you can see performance metrics like views and bookings, but you’ll need to log into your Viator account to access them.

Welcora doesn’t currently display those stats directly in the dashboard.

What happens if a guest cancels or has a bad experience, am I responsible in any way?

If a guest cancels or has a bad experience:

  • You may not receive a commission, but

  • You’re not responsible for the booking or the experience, that’s fully handled by Viator and the tour operator.

Are tours localized to my exact area, or are they sometimes for nearby cities that might not be relevant?

Tours are mostly localized to your area, but they can sometimes include experiences in nearby cities or regions especially if there’s limited availability right at your location.

So while most will be relevant, you might see a few that are a short drive away.

Is this feature available globally, or only in certain countries or markets?
